Fiction Fantasy Books, Myth And Murder
What are your favorite books? Fiction fantasy books? Are they your thing? How about cross-genre historical fiction fantasy books. Does such a category exist?
The best fiction fantasy books are the ones that speak more about reality than fiction, not just what is wrong with reality, but how we can get our reality right.
Creator, by Michael Hills, is a book like this. Perfume by Patrick Suskind is another. Following the life of a truly gifted abomination both books are very alike, although Creators character is only abominable on the outside, he is actually the exact opposite to to Perfumes abomination.
Mixed with mystery, fantasy and murder, both stories take place in actual historical scenarios, and both main characters have special almost magical powers.
Both these stories delve deeper into the spiritual, deeper meanings, and are told in the framework of fantasy, but speaking about hard reality.
But Creator goes beyond Perfume to add another element, which is myth. Even at this level Creator is great fun to read.
Why is it a myth? It has many layers, all having potentially different meanings, all equal important or unimportant, depending on how you see it. It has a top layer, a liner story line, and many layers beneath that, all of which depends on the level of understanding the reader has to interpret them.
You could read Creator when you are young, and see a meaning in it. So what if you read it again many years later? Would you see a different meaning in it, depending on your newly gained experience? Yes.
The insane thing about it is its simplicity. On one hand you have a complex myth, and on the other hand the whole story revolves around one word. Creators word is not love. It is a word that has enough power to destroy us all. At the same time, if we are able to take this word out of our speech, minds, and vocabulary, humanity would find true salvation. No I will not tell you what word it is. You’ll have to read the book.
I think Creator is so unique that it creates a category of its own. If I was to put Creator into a catagory, I would call it consciousness literature. Genre in CL is unimportant. What is important is that through the writing, the reader is taken to another level of consciousness.
When this is set in your subconscious this becomes a powerful message as it is internalized. Indeed, I think Creator has the ability to expand your consciousness. Find Creator, and other great reads, here at best fantasy books.
